Swallow the Sun to record new album this month

Cross-posted to metal_community

From the official Swallow the Sun website:

...We are entering Fascination Street studios in Sweden, Orebro on June 15th to record our fifth album which will be called 'New Moon'. The album will be produced and mixed by Jens Bogren, who has worked with such names as Katatonia, Opeth, Paradise Lost and Amon Amarth, just to name a few. And as we announced earlier, Kai Hahto (Wintersun, ex-Rotten Sound) will be playing drums on the album. We are thrilled and looking forward to working with such professionals.

Here is the initial track listing for the album (although we reserve the right to change it if we feel like it)
  1. These Woods Breathe Evil
  2. Falling World
  3. Sleepless Swans
  4. And Heavens Cried Blood
  5. New Moon
  6. Lights on the Lake (Horror pt. III)
  7. Servant of Sorrow
  8. Weight of the Dead
The album will be released in early November 2009 around the world; we'll let you know the exact dates as soon as possible.

Swallow the Sun had released their first album, The Morning Never Came, in 2003. Ghosts of Loss (2005) and Hope (2007) eventually followed which saw the band come further into their own (which reflected itself in part from vocalist Mikko Kotamäki's increasing use of black metal growls) before releasing their EP Plague of Butterflies in late 2008. The disc includes not only the half hour long title track itself but also original demos of songs from The Morning Never Came such as Swallow (Horror part.1) and Through Her Silvery Body.

Previous drummer Pasi Pasanen had left the band on good terms recently, due to lack of motivation. However, he will continue to play in the stoner metal outfit Plutonium Orange along with guitiarist Juha Raivio.

For those of you who are curious as to what Plutonium Orange actually sound like by the way (since it's where Juha and Pasi came up with the idea for Swallow the Sun), check out their songs on MySpace.
