Xray Is As Xray Does

Introduction (long, long overdue)

\m/ Name: M.
\m/ Age: 36
\m/ Location: New York City

\m/ Ten favorite bands(don't all have to be metal bands): Melechesh, Dead Can Dance, Cobalt, Madder Mortem, Meshuggah, Enslaved, Bikini Kill, Anaal Nathrakh, Deathspell Omega, Drudkh (lately, I can't stop listening to Damaar and Magma, go figure.)

\m/ Five favorite movies:
I don't really enjoy film or TV, but these are 5 I could happily watch over and over again.
Dr. Strangelove
Some Like It Hot
The Empire Strikes Back

\m/ Five favorite books:
Conversely, I read all the goddamned time. Right now I'm on a non-fiction/history kick. Here are 5 books/stories that I love.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – Hunter S. Thompson
A Song of Ice and Fire – GRRM
Transmetropolitan – Warren Ellis
Lord of Light – Roger Zelazny
Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen

\m/ What is an interesting fact about you?
I have been an avid birder since childhood. I own exactly one pair of trousers and I only wear them because my mom bought them for me and I love my mom. Before I made the career move to Professional Jackass (journalist), I was a Professional Pedantic Asshole (research scientist working at the unholy intersection of physics, chemistry and biology).

\m/ If you could be anything besides yourself for a day, what would you be, and why? Spider Jerusalem, the outlaw journalist hero of Transmet. What I wouldn’t give to walk around with a kick-ass female bodyguard, a surly assistant, and a raygun-shaped “Bowel Disruptor,” a weapon which makes the victim shit himself into unconsciousness.

\m/ What was the best metal concert you've been to?
A pack of death metal bands at a houseparty in the Bronx (in someone’s parents’ basement, in fact, which makes it all the more awesome) a couple of years ago. The musicianship was indifferent to incompetent (they were all still teenagers), but the atmosphere was great and the bands played like their very lives and family honor depended on it. Ain't nothing more metal than that.

\m/ Do you play a music instrument? If yes, tell us more.
A xylophone made from the bones of my enemies. I am also learning how to play the drums (I married a drummer, so he’s teaching me).

\m/ Post a photo of yourself
From a photoset taken for work. And people wonder why I never show up on Fox News like my clean-cut colleagues. ha.
