does this page piss you off as much as it pisses me off?

Black metal women = add bullet belt and upside-down cross to a scantily-clad lady and voila! *gag*

Is that not how it works? *world view shatters*

I think Mindy hit the nail on the head here XD

The page itself doesn't bother me too much; mainly because at this point I am just so apathetic towards these 'Women of Black Metal', but also because, at this point, I am willing to accept that what might be sacred to me, might begin in end in a reason for exhibiting one's boobs for another person. People relate to the world differently, and I no longer care about what these women believe or do.

Anyway...most Black Metal is created by men who are similarly shallow and retarded, so I do not object to these women doing their part ;)

I just find it pretty lame and an example for why it's hard for women to be a "credible" metal fan.

..but then again, I tend to have anti-feminist opinions :p
OrbWeaverjoansies on December 8th, 2011 07:15 pm (UTC)
That's hardly anti-feminist. Wearing an upside-down cross and a black t-shirt while prominently displaying your boobs and calling yourself "black metal" is anti-feminist, IMO. Hard for metal fans to take these women seriously when they are blatantly objectifying themselves.
Alice in Slaughterhousemijeli on December 9th, 2011 11:34 am (UTC)
Yeah, I'm torn with that.. because that little devil on my shoulder whispers, "if those women honestly like black metal and WANT to dress that way, because they like it, then they should be allowed without you judging them". And my lack of understanding might stem simply from the fact that I never cared for feminine clothing.

However, I wouldn't respect the way these girls on the FB page are presenting themselves, whether they were wearing BM shirts or not, so I guess that's being fair! Heh.

I haven't even clicked and I already know I'll just see a bunch of black and white webcam shots of pretty women in ~black metal~ shirts (I'll bet 10$ they'll be Alcest or Watain or Immortal shirts) or, alternatively, myspace shots of them wearing vests with Blasphago clone patches surrounding a centerpiece of cleavage.

I was close! Black metal is so fucking stupid, I swear to god. (And I say this as someone who goes nuts over Bathory and is well acquainted with the genre...)

it's like looking a fashion magazine. in order to be a female who likes black metal i have to be tall, white, hot, have long black hair, and dress metalasfvck. since i'm not any of those, i guess i don't like black metal.

jezus sometimes i really hate this subgenre.

Likely not. I mean, hell, at least it acknowledges that women can be promoters, managers and musicians, in addition to being music fans. That's more than I can say for most internet-based music sites.

Re: does this page piss you off as much as it pisses me off?
This is true, but look at the photos. *I* don't take those women seriously. It looks like a desperate cry for attention. Sure, you can be pretty and a metal fan, but those photos...REALLY???

Of course, I feel that all female metalheads are trapped in a similar double-standard that women directly involved in metal are - if you're hot, "O look, a hot woman in metal. Scoff, scoff, scoff." If you're not "O look, a troll. Of course she's a troll, it figures. Why aren't there any HOT women in metal??? Whine, whine, bitch, moan, objectify the hot women and fail to take them seriously."

I'm not even clicking the link because it sounds super annoying but I'm guessing it's the equivalent of METAL SANAZ being on myspace.
zengzengmar on December 9th, 2011 04:04 am (UTC)
oh man, i forgot about metal sanaz. i thought she was a tv host or something?
wxyzkristinchaos on December 12th, 2011 10:56 am (UTC)
Doesn't really bother me. Sure, it might make it harder for some of us to be "taken seriously", but I mean, that goes without saying for most subcultures, anyway, as unfortunate as that may be.

At the same time, at least there are pictures of Onielar, even if I don't like Darkend Nocturn Slaughtercult. Missing Åskväder, though.

They look like the same ladies that often are hanging outside of Watain's practice space on Saturday mornings, smelling like booze and death, when I'm heading to the metro to go to yoga. Used to it. Not bothered by it.
zengzengmar on December 12th, 2011 03:31 pm (UTC)
i rarely ever see chicks that look like this. around here female metalheads more or less dress the same as male ones, the only difference being the girls are a little less ugly.
wxyzkristinchaos on December 19th, 2011 09:32 pm (UTC)
Honestly, I don't see the problem with dressing either way?

What was this the gothic photoshop models page that they just renamed?
